Laptop won't turn off

I can't get my laptop to turn off. It needs to be off so I can clean it before I take it on vacation with me. Any ideas? Pushing on the on/off button doesn't work.

Try keeping the On/Off switch down for a longer time, until your laptop really switches off

And wait until the laptop's battery runs out?
