Hi all having issues with the last couple of KB updates. They get to about 5%, stop and then fail. Happens on both a Dell XPS13 and Surface Pro 6. Tried all the obvious, clearing down load files folder, stopping and starting services, rebooting multiple times, file checking, manual download and install but no luck. Anyone got any ideas?

Do you have Malwarebytes installed? This seems to be causing problems with installing the latest updates. The solution is to disable all protection & turn off the setting to start protection when Windows starts, then restart the PC & try updating again.
If no Malwarebytes or you have the free version which may not have those features then another contender is NET framework 3.5, the suggestion in this case is to open the old control panel>programs & features>turn windows features on/off & deselect NET 3.5. Restart the PC & try updating again.

Uninstalled Malwarebytes - no change still didn’t install. .net wouldn’t switch off so back at square one. Thanks for the suggestion though. Notice that there are many threads about this so perhaps it’s up to Microsoft to withdraw the update and re-issue once install issues are resolved.

Did you use their cleanup tool?
Strange if NET wouldn’t turn off.
You can also try an in-place repair. Download the Windows 11 iso, mount this & install Windows by double click setup. Follow instructions & insure ‘keep everything’ is automatically selected.

Ran both the clean up tool, scan now tool and deleted all previous downloads from software distribution folder. No luck. Looks like ‘repair via iso install’ is next option - wish me luck ?
