Device: Nitro AN517-54

The audio on my device suddenly ceased functioning. I tried to uninstall the Realtek driver listed in Device Manager and reboot, but it did not automatically reinstall.

When I manually installed the driver from the manufacturer's official website, it did not appear in Device Manager. Assistance needed.

I had that happen suddenly on a 7-month-old Notebook. To verify I booted a Linux LiveUSB and it also didn't find the sound adapter. Motherboard was replaced under warranty.

The issue seems to be that system isn’t detecting the audio hardware, which could be a software issue or a hardware failure. First, check Device Manager under View > Show hidden devices to see if Realtek Audio appears, and try uninstalling and restarting. Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter in Settings > System > Troubleshoot to see if Windows can fix it. Also, check the BIOS to make sure the audio controller is enabled. If the issue persists, boot from a Linux Live USB to see if the sound adapter is detected. If Linux also doesn’t find it, it’s likely a hardware failure, and you may need to contact Acer support for repair, especially if it's under warranty.
