Not all MS Office licenses are transferable:
- Retail – Can be moved to another device (must uninstall from the old one first).
- OEM – Tied to the original hardware, can’t be transferred.
- Volume – Usually for organizations, with their own rules.
You can check your license type by opening any Office app → File → Account → look under Product Information
