This is a complaint posted to help ensure that the world knows of this particular evil and interested in comments from other victims. If you want your world to revolve around (and depend upon) the Cloud more power to you. This is not addressed to you. OneDrive (which I'll refer to as OD) is insidious, intrusive and typically installed without the user knowing it. Most new users of Win11 had OD installed by default. Less wary, less informed folks will speed right along saying YES for the "free" version. Currently providing 5GB of cloud storage and you have no idea in this world what is being sent there. When you inevitably overrun the 5GB (part of the evil design) you will be faced with an urgent "out of space" warning and the oh-so-simple solution to BUY more space. At that point is the far, far opposite of simple to opt out of existence of the blasted thing which you never authorized in the first place. Suggest two things immediately: 1) go Google OneDrive and look for the negative reports and 2) read the Wiki on this insidious pest. That done, please note that once you reach about 90% or so of the 5GB free space your PC will start slowing down with no explanation or clues. You will NEVER have a full set of info on what the thing does or does not do, which actions are bugs and which are planned features, etc. One quite subtle symptom is due to typical internet connections. Most of us have fairly robust download speeds and low uplink speeds which fits sanity...unless OD is involved. With OD uploading you-know-not-what your overall experience becomes lousy without any clues or explanations. Soon you will probably find your desktop has been made common (without you being asked or told) between your 2 or 3 machines and they start interacting with each other...and it is in the cloud not in your PC where it belongs. Shortcuts placed on your desktop won't stay put and after 6 or 8 tries you realize some cussed expletive has hold of your gonads. One of your machines will have many GB of photos copied into the cloud while other machines do not. You will find you have a supersecret highly protected Personal folder up there in a cumulo-nimbus that you never created, were never asked, had no control over and find inaccessible unless you get more space somehow. You will get inventive and find ways to DELETE crap from the cloud only to find out it went to Recycle and is still up there somewhere. You will then get alarmed about what may really be important to you that some software idiot thinks should not be on your PC harddrive. On-and-on. There really is no end. But the stench and evil are really VERY CLEAR when you see that you were tricked into this existing on your computer, you will be hit with "easy way out" deals that you will be given no alternative but to pay for, your machines will perform poorly without the culprit ever being flagged, that you have to be a geek to find out how to keep the OD thing from reinstalling itself the next time you start your computer... I'd rather sleep with a copperhead.
