What firewall or MS Defender parameter needs to be changed to scan a page to my PC?

A firewall prevents external access to your PC, Defender watches the activity in the OS (Operating System). I think you are concerned about a possible malicious document?

If it is protection: Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Windows Security

Or are you talking about scanning a piece of paper to make an electronic copy?

You can scan manually via Windows Security (previously Windows Defender) .. however it is not necessary as Windows will do it silently in background automatically ..

Hey @joker31 It’s not clear what you mean by "scan a page to my PC." Are you trying to scan a physical document using a scanner, or are you asking about scanning a downloaded file for malware?

If you’re talking about scanning a document, you don’t need to change any firewall or Defender settings. Just make sure your scanner is connected and use Windows Fax and Scan or the Windows Scan app.

If you mean scanning a file for malware, Windows Defender does this automatically in the background. You can also right-click the file and select Scan with Microsoft Defender to run a manual scan. No firewall settings need to be changed for this.
