What format you have used? .. for Smart TV usage I use FAT32, and for normal computer usage I just use ex-FAT. Some China made USB drives doesn't show exact space eg. 10GB should show 9GB+ ..
It's from My Memory UK, the others are fine although a Hisense tv down graded a Sandisk 32gb into 7gb which I bought from Argos. I always use fat 32. But it's the last time I use My Memory after this. It's makes me wonder where I can get em from.
If you are looking for a reliable memory card, you may want to check the Amazon, curry, or even directly reliable retailers from brands such as Sandisk or Kingston. They offer quality products with clear warranties.
Sandisk is one that went from 32gb to 7gb and a Sandisk 32gb to not being able to store anything, it locked. I know you can buy more expensive ones, but is it worth it?.
I have a 16GB Verbatim Pinstripe USB Thumb drive that is formatted FAT32 by the MCT/Media Creation Tool for installing Win11, the full formatted capacity is 14.4GB. There's always less capacity of ANY drive when formatted than what the drive is advertised as or put another way, formatting a drive uses some capacity for things like the FAT/File Allocation Table.
I just checked my USB drives. A capacity of 7.48GB points to a 8GB drive, not a 10GB. My Kinston drive has a Capacity of 7.32GB in FAT32. This varies depending on the file system used
First, like @Bighorn mentioned, formatting always takes up some space for file system structures. But if a 10GB stick is showing 7.48GB, that's a bigger drop than usual. It could be a mislabeled or fake drive.
Have you tried using something like H2testw to check if the capacity is legit? Also, @cosmic52 , if the Sandisk drives are locking up or losing capacity after using them with the TV, it might be worth trying a low-level format tool to restore them."
