Hi There,

I've just realized that on Win11 when I perform shutdown /p does not work. On Win10 I used to go to "start" and then type "shutdown /p".

In Win11I'm able to see the run command prompting but once I click on it, the computer does not shut down itself.

Any advice?

Thank you.

Works flawlessly on my Windows 11 Desktop.

WinKey + R
shutdown /p
hit enter or click OK

No problems, just shuts down

Are you doing something differently?

Could you please test it going on start and then typing shutdown /p? in Win10 I used to go on start and then I typed shutdown /p and I clicked on the run command.
I confirm it runs correctly typing WinKyey +R but as I said this step was not necessary on Win10. It's annoying .

I can confirm that is doesn't work as you are describing
BUT.... And this is taking me back to my Windows 8 days
I simply created a new shortcut as shown in the image below

Screenshot (10).png

Target = C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /p /f
Starts in = C:Windows\System32
Called it Shutdown
Gave it a nice power button icon

After one time typing it into Start Button Search it gets indexed to the top and afterward all you have to do is type Shutdown and hit enter.
You can even
Pin to start
AND
Pin to taskbar

Not sure any of that was particularly helpful

I've created a new shortcut as you advised, it works. However, I'd prefer shutting down my laptop through the previous method but it does not work. I confirm it runs correctly typing WinKyey +R.
