Backing up or copying data from one drive to another

Good-day... OK.
Some background before I ask the question.
I have the following:
1. Mediasonic Probox 8 Bay enclosue with 8 drives of 2Tb each. Each HDD are pretty well full of data.
2. Synology 4 Bay NAS with attached USB Seagate 22Tb HDD. Note: the NAS has no issues seeing the 22Tb HDD (Hard Disk Drive).
I'm using 'Taracopy' to copy data from the Probox to the NAS. The issue comes up when I try to copy the whole HDD in the Probox at once. It will start disconnecting and reconnecting. If I divide the data into 'volumes' of about 300GB and if I copy one volume at a time no issue.
My question:
Can one 'overload' USB by transfering too much data.
