Microsoft has taken a huge step forward in protecting its users' digital lives. With the introduction of Microsoft Defender for Individuals, privacy-conscious users in the United States and the United Kingdom may now enjoy better protection on their iOS and Android devices.

Contrary to popular belief, Microsoft Defender is not simply another name for Windows Security. It's a comprehensive suite with advanced privacy features, including encrypted browsing data and IP address masking. The great news is that the same capabilities will soon be available on Windows and macOS, making privacy protection more accessible to everyone.

To take advantage of this enhanced protection, customers will need a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription. Once subscribed, they can enjoy the benefits of a VPN, which encrypts internet data and shields it from prying eyes, especially on public Wi-Fi networks. Additionally, masking IP addresses thwarts advertisers and third parties from tracking online activities and locations.

While the VPN automatically connects to the nearest server for maximum performance, users cannot manually select server locations. However, this trade-off results in seamless, hassle-free protection.

Getting started is easy. Simply install the Defender app from your choice app store or directly from Microsoft. Sign in with your Microsoft account linked to a Microsoft 365 subscription, or start a trial to experience the benefits for yourself. Enabling privacy protection only takes a few taps within the app.

For Android users, there is an added benefit: the ability to exclude specific apps from VPN use. This level of customization guarantees that vital apps run smoothly while maintaining increased privacy elsewhere.
