How to Move the Start Menu and Taskbar to the Left

Prior to Windows 11, the default start button location has always been fixed to the left hand side of the monitor. Microsoft have freshened up the look of the latest version of Windows by centre-aligning the start button and taskbar. However, there are some simple steps you can take to restore the familiar alignment if you'd like.

  1. First, open the Settings panel (press ⊞ Win + I).
  2. Click on Personalization on the left menu.
  3. Select the Taskbar option from the right panel.

  4. Click Taskbar Behaviours to expand the options menu.

  5. Finally, under Taskbar Alignment, select Left.

Now, your start menu and taskbar will all be aligned to the left of your screen, as you're already familiar with:
