The shortcuts on my desktop are blank with a white outline. These are for Edge PDF files. This only effects the desktop shortcuts, not the files in my document folder. Any way I can remedy this?

It depends on which application you have set the PDF viewer, if Adobe then it will show Adobe icon, If set Edge then you will see Edge icon ..

I agree. You do not have set up a default PDF viewer. Rightclick on a pdf file in your document folder and choose "Open With" then "choose another App" now all the apps are displayed that can open PDF files. Choose the app you want to use and click on "Always".
That should change the icon on you desktop too.

JFYI.... I've been using "Foxit reader" for a very long time now, as my Default PDF reader. It's FAST and efficient.
And, it's FREE!

You may want to give that a try.
