WiFi Direct Connection and WiFi Connection

I was reading about WiFi Direct.

I understood as

• Using WiFi Direct, wifi devices like laptop, smartphone can be connected directly with the printer.
• In this case, for wireless printing, only WiFi Direct supporting printer and Print App or Print Software are required.
• In such cases Internet connection and router are not required.

If I understood well, please let me know,

• What can be expected wireless connectivity distance range with WiFi Direct?
• Which wireless connectivity; WiFi Direct and WiFI, is better?
• What are limitations of WiFi Direct connectivity over WiFi?

Moreover, whether it’s at personal level use or organization level use;
if the printer supports WiFi Direct and print app or software is installed in the device;
any skilled person can connect with the printer and can print. Am I right?
