In order to improve email security and prevent abuse, Microsoft plans to impose a new limit on bulk emails sent via Exchange Online. This action demonstrates the company's commitment to reinforcing its email infrastructure and protecting users from spam and other unwanted activity.
The old Recipient Rate restriction of 10,000 emails will remain unchanged, with the new ERR as a sub-limit. As a result, as long as you don't try to send more than 2,000 external emails, you won't have any problems.
To assist customers in adjusting to the new system, Microsoft will introduce the bulk email restriction for Exchange Online in two parts. Thus, new users' cloud-hosted mailboxes will begin with the restriction on January 1, 2025, while older users will receive it between July and December 2025.
For experienced Exchange Online users, adjusting to this new restriction may necessitate some changes. However, it is critical to understand Microsoft's choice and the potential benefits in terms of email security.
