Windows 10 was meant to be the last iteration of windows?

Forgive me if I am wrong (I prbably am!!), but didn't MS say (few years back) that windows 10 would be the last iteration of windows? Now we have the rubbish win' 11 and already talk of win' 12! I wait with baited breath for windows 22, 31, 45 . . . .

Win-11 is just enough different than Win-10 it really does require a new name.
