CrowdStrike Security Software Update Causes Windows Operating System to Experience BSOD Issues
Today, hundreds of companies around the world have shown their server machines and computers facing the issue of BSOD or Blue Screen of Death, which forces a computer to shut down. Microsoft, along with computer security company CrowdStrike has announced that the latest update to its CrowdStrike security software causes Microsoft Windows operating systems to encounter the problem.
Among other issues shown is that there are computers stuck in the "boot loop" cycle where when the computer tries to restart, it will get stuck in the boot function cycle and not enter the Windows operating system. CrowdStrike may not be a security brand familiar to the average user, but it is used by many giant companies for the security of their server machines and data centers. For Microsoft itself, among the services affected by this issue are Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure. Other companies are such as Amazon Web Services, Telstra, RyanAir, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, myob and so on.
In Malaysia, we were told that a number of computers at Subang Jaya Medical Center are facing this BSOD issue, and we will try to update this list with other companies if we receive information about it.
- Enter Windows Safe Mode or Windows Recovery Environment
- Enter the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory
- Remove the C-00000291*.sys file
- Restart the computer normally
