Problem with selection of multiple files

I am trying, as with all previous versions of Windows, to select multiple files holding down the Ctrl key, and in the middle of the operation Windows 11 suddenly produces copies of the files already selected. It is practically impossible to select multiple files without them being copied.

Open Windows explorer go to view, at the bottom it says SHOW click on that another menu opens place a tick on" item check boxes". close open a file explorer when you highlight the file to copy a box will show at the start of the file name click that instead of the file

Another suggestion. Click the Three bars to the right of the bar menu. Select "Options"
Select "double Click" and then Apply.
