I am looking for a USB 3 external hard drive caddy for my Seagate Barracuda 4TB 2.5" hard drive (WFF021PV) which is about 14mm thick.

All the caddies I have found are for drives up to7 or 9 mm

Any suggestions?

Could it be safely run using a sata to USB 3 adapter cable but not in a caddy?

Do you have a picture of that drive? How about, is there a Seagate ST number printed somewhere on the drive?
I tried to look that drive up on the web and got a stew of different drives, from laptop drives to desktop drives.

And yes, you can definitely run that SATA drive with a SATA to USB powered adapter.
That spinner is going to draw a lot more power than the typical laptop drive.

But remember, SATA is FAST and USB is SLOW. So, proceed accordingly.
Is your PC a laptop, by chance?

I see that you've said your System specs are "Lenovo AIO"....I'm sorry but that tells me nothing.
Picture? Model # ? Something more descriptive than just AIO.

I was once given an HP AIO (desktop PC) and what a piece of crap that was. I wound up just scrapping it out.

Good Luck,
