Startup programs

I want my Gmail inbox, Messenger inbox and Google Calendar all to appear on my desktop when I boot up. Using Shell:startup command they all open on my desktop but the are stacked i.e. I can only see the program at the top of the stack.
Is there a way to open these programs at a designated place at boot up?
